Dr. Jackie Gerson Presents first look at S x MEHG Data from our USDA Project

At this year’s Goldschmidt Conference in Lyon, France, Dr. Gerson gave a first look at data on S, total Hg, and methylmercury patterns, as well as gross rates of Hg methylation from our vineyard soil sites across Napa Valley, CA. During the dry season, she shows higher MeHg in forest than vineyard soils, owing to their accumulation of organic matter. She also showed higher potential for MeHg production in vineyard and forest soils compared with grassland soils. We expect the data from the wet season to look very different, and will have those results soon
